| In the post independence era, the state of Kerala took a leading role in revolutionizing standard of education in the whole country. But, since past three decades facts and figures of Kerala education and its infrastructure received it a big boost. According to the data available, in 1999-2000, there were almost 6726 lower primary, 2968 upper primary and 2580 high schools.
Due to initiative of government of Kerala, the scenario of Kerala education changed completely. Government of Kerala understood this very truth that if the sate has to be progressed then increase in the rate of mass literacy rate has to be increased. According to facts and figures of Kerala Education it is quite clear that the government strove really hard to provide basic infrastructural facilities to the schools to the best extent. As per result, the Kerala schools have better physical and both basic facilities in comparison to schools in other parts of the country. Statistical report is saying that 83% of them have proper building, 85% have urinals or latrine facilities and more than 84% schools have proper drinking water facilities.
According to education in Kerala facts and figures it becomes quite clear that primary level education in Kerala have played a major role in altering the condition of education in this sate. Lower and upper primary level prevail the greatest part of the facts and figures of Kerala education scenario. Every village of this state contains more than five primary schools in an average.
