The University of Kerala, originally the University of Travancore, was established in 1937 by the Maharaja of Travancore, Sri Chithira Thirunal Balarama Varma.
The Institute of Distance Education began in 1976 as a teaching and research department of the University of Kerala. It is recognized by the Distance Education Council and holds B++ as per NAAC Rating. The Institute is located in the University Campus, at Kariavattom, fourteen kilometers away from the city of Thiruvananthapuram, in the Thiruvananthapuram - Kollam route.
The University has a wide network of study centers in India and abroad. All study centers of the University offer study materials and other distance education facilities for students. University of Kerala IDE Admission Procedure
Application Form and Prospectus has to be collected from Institute of Distance Education (IDE) Office at Kariavattom, by payment of the stipulated amount through University Pay-in-Slips or from the District and Taluk Information Centres of the University of Kerala or from the Forms Sales Counter at Palayam Campus by directly paying the required amount.
Applicants can send request to the Director of IDE, University of Kerala Campus, to get forms by post. Requisition has to be sent to, The Director, IDE, University of Kerala Campus, Kariavattom, Thiruvananthapuram-695581, accompanied by a self-addressed cover (27x17cm) stamped for Rs.15/- and a Demand Draft for the cost of Application Form, DD has to be drawn in favour of The Finance Officer, University of Kerala from SBT payable at SBT Service Branch, Thiruvananthapuram or from District Co-operative Bank Head Office Branch at Thiruvananthapuram.
